What is an epididymal cyst?

An epididymal cyst is a benign fluid-filled swelling arising from the epididymis next to the testicle.

What happens during surgery?

The cyst is carefully removed while preserving surrounding structures whenever possible.

Recovery

Day surgery is usual. Mild swelling and discomfort improve over 2–4 weeks.

Risks

  • Bleeding or haematoma 

  • Infection 

  • Recurrence 

  • Chronic discomfort 

  • Rare injury affecting the function of the testes
